Recently, the ISYS Charitable Committee hosted a “Wine & Paint Night” to help build awareness of a local charity, Timmaree Rocks Foundation—who provides rock painting kits to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). The kits are used as healing therapy for children battling cancer, and their families.
The Timmaree Rocks Foundation founder, Gerry Hicks, joined our event and shared the touching story of his daughter Timmaree who passed away at 9 years old after a two-year battle with cancer. Gerry shared many of the rocks that Timmaree painted during her time in the hospital and asked everyone in the group to get creative with their rock painting.
In honor of Timmaree the first rocks we painted as a group were of a butterfly—Timmaree’s favorite image to paint. We then had a rock painting competition and our winner was a local ISYS Case Manager’s four children who painted the four Ninja Turtles on each of their rocks. While painting our rocks we realized how therapeutic it felt, and we were able to relax, unwind and feel gratitude for the simplicity and calmness we were being gifted with.
One of our core values at ISYS is to “give generously”, so we were honored to help raise donations to celebrate and support Timmaree’s legacy and the mission of Timmaree Rock Foundation.
To date, Timmaree Rock Foundation has donated over 30,000 rock kits and inspired and uplifted thousands of children and families. If you want to learn more about Timmaree Rocks Foundation, please visit https://timmareerocksfoundation.org/.
