ISYS has been a long-time supporter and advocate of mental health and promoting mental health and wellness for those we serve, both internally and externally. As such, we are very proud of our Vice President of Case Management & Workplace Safety, Herbert Van Patten II, who bravely shared his own story of mental health challenges with industry colleagues and professional peers, on a recent podcast of White Knuckling Through Life (Episode 7).
The mission of the White Knuckling Through Life podcast is to “eliminate pain and diminish the stigmas associated with life’s struggles by focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel.” Co-Host Diann Cohen interviewed Herb about the traumatic impact his father’s death had on him and how coping with the trauma shaped the man and professional he is today. The conversation touched on common struggles associated with PTSD and some of the misunderstandings associated with people coping with trauma, but it ultimately focused on promoting the concept of hope.
We see Herb as an example of resilience, and wanted to share his inspiration with our community, especially for those who might be struggling with current or past trauma.
