Case managers truly do it all. They bring the skills of a nurse, educator, coach, analyst, reporter, and so much more to every recovery journey. This National Case Management Week, we celebrate the expertise, heart, and dedication behind everything they do.
Across the country, people have been anxiously checking their calendars for October, looking forward to the long-awaited…. Case Management Week! No wait, that’s Halloween. 🎃🎃 Most people don’t even know what Case Management is! This is unfortunate, as Case Managers are amazing and certainly earn a week of acknowledgment and recognition. Our Case Managers at ISYS are highly skilled in supporting injured workers along their journeys back to health and independence. Along these journeys, they facilitate the recovery process, applying their medical and workers’ compensation expertise in navigating a complex system, acting not only as nurses, but also as educators, coaches, analysts, and reporters. This is the stuff needed to ensure that workers who experience life-changing injuries return to independence quickly and avoid the pitfalls of prolonged time away from work.
Case Management Week this year is celebrated from October 11-17 and is sponsored by two major case management associations, Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and the American Case Management Association (ACMA). Each organization has a unique and valuable spin on the theme to be carried throughout the week. CMSA is celebrating the week with the theme “Reconnect. Recognize. Reignite. Rise.” ACMA is celebrating the impact of case management with the theme of “Driving Outcomes”. Both organizations recognize the hard work and impact that case managers make in enabling individuals with injuries, illness, and disabilities to regain function.
“Driving Outcomes” is what case managers do. Let’s face it. Our system is complex and difficult to successfully navigate. It is easy to get stalled, stymied, or disrupted when managing a medical issue. Almost all of us have experienced this challenge firsthand. When a case manager gets involved, they remove those roadblocks by providing support and guidance, as well as thorough coordination of the care and resources needed to keep the recovery process on track. They know how to anticipate and prevent potential barriers and help patients build a positive mindset with a focus on positive outcomes.
“Reconnect. Recognize. Reignite. Rise.” The four “Rs” focus on appreciation, community, and honoring the growth and potential of case managers everywhere.
- Reconnect: Case managers are like cogs in the wheel of the recovery process. We celebrate their deep connections with doctors, healthcare teams, claims professionals, injured workers, and with one another.
- Recognize: This week is all about recognizing the impact case managers make through their hard work, their clinical expertise, and their support and advocacy in impacting recovery.
- Reignite: This week we take time to pause, reflect, and refuel the passion for case management, recognizing the need for continuous growth and learning as our knowledge and sophistication in managing recovery expands.
- Rise: As we reflect on the great impact case managers currently offer to individuals struggling with injuries, illness or disabilities, we consider ways to empower case managers as change agents who can help to shape the future of our healthcare delivery system.
This week, we send a big shout-out to our ISYS® Case Managers, and to case managers everywhere for their dedication to excellence in case management solutions and to the successful outcomes they deliver, one patient at a time. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
