As a member of Family Enterprise USA (FEUSA),  ISYS’ President recently joined a select group of family businesses from around the country, in Washington DC, to advocate for family businesses and the valuable ways in which they contribute to the economy and local communities.

FEUSA is a bipartisan nonprofit organization whose mission is to “promote family business creation, growth, viability, and sustainability by advocating for family businesses and their lifetime of savings with Congress in Washington DC.  FEUSA represents and celebrates all sizes, professions, and industries of family-owned enterprises and multi-generational employers.”

While in DC, family business owners met with 20+ members of the House and Senate and/or their staff members to educate them on the value family businesses bring to the country and their districts.  They shared that 87% of businesses in the US are family-owned, that family businesses account for 83 million + jobs each year, that family businesses make up 54% of the nation’s GDP, and that family businesses tend to give exponentially more philanthropically to the local communities in which they operate in.

ISYS is no exception, contributing annually at the local level through volunteer support and financial contributions to the Mental Health Association of Orange County, One Love Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Red Cross Blood Drives, and Alzheimer’s education, in addition to supporting numerous schools, little league teams, girl/boy scout troops, and other charitable or community efforts in support of ISYS employee interests throughout the states we operate in (CA, NV, AZ, NM, and TX).

FEUSA was also able to promote and recruit members of Congress to participate in the newly formed Family Business Caucus.  The caucus’s mission is to educate members on the economic and community benefits family businesses bring.

Our ISYS President, Alysha Loumakis-Calderon, currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Family Enterprise USA. Her 11th grade daughter joined her in DC, (making it a literal “family business” trip😉). Alysha appreciates being able to advocate for a cause that is not just meaningful to families who run businesses, but to all individuals who value healthy communities and economies.
